Celebrating Our First Year of History Killers on Substack!!!
Marking an incredible first year of growth.
Doing something a little different, I want to engage with you directly, dear reader.
Amazingly, it has already been over a year since the first articles under the History Killers banner were published on Substack. A sizable group of articles were released the same day (April 3rd, 2021) and the first article that included the “History Killers” label within its title was released soon afterward (April 19, 2021).
The essays and articles on this platform cover a variety of history-related and social commentary-related topics, from book reviews to current events to academically-rooted scholarship. The articles that feature the moniker, “History Killers,” in their titles remain among the most popular, due to their analysis of the erosion and/or manipulation of history for seemingly political aims. The first three articles of this kind were originally published at New Discourses before finding another home here.
It has truly been a tremendous pleasure to see the subscription numbers continue to grow and to witness such amazing support for this ongoing project.
I mark this one year anniversary with a profound and heartfelt Thank You to each and every person who reads this publication and shares an interest in the preservation and celebration of history and its role in our daily lives.
There are many projects underway that will be published directly through this History Killers publication or will be announced and promoted through this platform, so please do stay tuned for more interesting stories and endeavors going forward.
Finally, (and I ask this rarely so as to not strain such a request) please consider sharing History Killers with others and encouraging more people to subscribe. With the variety of subjects and content, from book reviews to historical scholarship to current events and social commentary, there is truly something for almost everyone here.
This publication exists to promote both literacy and historical literacy. Thank you so much for being part of this goal and for your continued interest.
Best,
-James M. Masnov
